You and I shouldn't listen to someone telling us "you know what he did?" We should say, "have you asked him about that?" I'm not saying we shouldn't go to our brother if he is sinning and in love rebuke him. I saying we should do just that. We should go to him not to others and talk about our brother. Hope this clears up any confusion. Nobody is above rebuke, but also nobody deserves to be gossiped about. (what a true friend would do... that is, ) to your congregation... I thought "ahhh, that's probably not a wise thing to say from the pulpit".... you know, it could facilitate a "it's bad to want to know the truth"... kinda culture...which is the perfect breeding ground for all sorts of problems.. It's probably true, true friends will tend to give the benefit of the doubt to their friend, but I think if they're concerned about something and want to ask their friend about it... the same way one side of true friendship would give the benefit of the doubt, the other side will also understand the friends concerns when he feels it's big enough to approach his friend about it. Once again, I might just be taking this wrong... but coming from where I have... I felt it could be a dangerous to advocate so I wanted to comment on that. Anyway, I appreciate alot of your stuff.
